We arrived in Santa Cruz a couple days prior to our elopement in order to get our marriage license and have plenty of time to prepare. We found ourselves with extra time and wanted to take advantage of the beautiful California weather.
In close proximity to our hotel, we found Bonny Doon Beach. There was parking in front of a hill along the highway. We walked over the grassy hill to a beautiful ocean view where there was a path that took you down to the beach.
When we arrived there were only 3 people there who looked like they were on their way out. The beach was kind of down in between some cliffs and the rocks were incredible.
We were able to stand on the rocks right next to the ocean. It wasn’t quite swimming weather this time of year but the sun felt good and the breeze wasn’t cold.
We explored the area and the cliff walls where we found a small cave. My then, fiancé’ was able to traverse his way to it to get photos.
It is a small beach but yet so much to explore. It was just so incredible to walk around and experience everything.
Eventually we found our way on top of one of the cliffs so we could look out on the ocean. It was just breathtaking.
There was a clear path where people walked and possibly rode four wheelers. You could easily walk for a few miles if you had the time.
A few more people showed up while we were there but the beach was practically deserted the entire time. We pretty much had it all to ourselves.
The views were gorgeous, and we just wanted to take it all in.
We spent a good couple of hours there just relaxing and taking in the beauty. We have great memories from this small excursion and some great pictures that we’ve used to decorate our house.
